SSAS Plasma Bond is one of the best insert adhesives available today. It is a urethane based adhesive that creates a bond that is stronger than the material being bonded. This is the same type of urethane bottled by Bohning under the name Insert Iron for $9.95 per ounce Instructions for use: - Clean the inside of shafts and inserts with alcohol and allow time to dry
- Wet a Q Tip with water and wipe out the inside of the shaft
- apply a very small bead of adhesive about half way between the front and rear of the insert
- Install the insert and wipe off the excess adhesive
- Stand the shaft upright sitting on the insert for 24 hours.
This adhesive expands as it cures and it is critical that you are very conservative with your application. You only need a bead about 1/16 in in diameter, the adhesive will expand and fill the void between the insert and shaft. Notice: Do not use on Easton Axis type arrows with H.I.T. insert technology, it would work very well but the risk of the adhesive expanding and filling the inside of the shaft is too great. Also the curing process could move the insert out of position. |
